Tamworth CFR group is a newly formed Community First Responder Group based in Fazeley, Staffordshire. Our mission is to provide a Community based First Responder Team to cover the Tamworth and Fazeley areas of Staffordshire. With a population of 70,000 and an area of approx 70 sq miles, it is quite a challenge. The area varies from densely populated urban to open, remote farmland. We are in the early stages of formation and welcome anyone who is genuinely committed to assisting others at times of medical or traumatic distress. We operate on an entirely voluntary basis and have to raise funds to purchase all equipment and pay ongoing costs.

Community First Responders
form part of a co-ordinated approach to saving lives, particularly in rural communities where an ambulance may take some time to arrive. They are not sent instead of the ambulance but do bridge the gap between the 999 call and the arrival of the paramedics.
Community First Responders
are people from all walks of life as no previous experience or medical training is needed. Usually between 18 and 70 and reasonably fit and healthy, responders are professionally trained by the ambulance service and work as volunteers in their own community.
Community First Responders
deal with all sorts of incidents including adult patients with chest or breathing problems, epilepsy, diabetes and road traffic accidents as well as patients with burns and sprains. On average, within the West Midlands Region, 1300 jobs per month are dealt with by Community First Responders.
